Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged Asia-Pacific economies to unite for a “sustainable and bright future,” addressing the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Summit on November 1st in South Korea.
He called for stronger regional cooperation to tackle global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and slowing growth. Xi outlined three key priorities: harnessing digital innovation through responsible artificial intelligence, advancing green and low-carbon development, and fostering inclusive prosperity centred on people. He also proposed the creation of a World Organisation for AI Cooperation and reaffirmed China’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality.
The summit concluded with the adoption of the Gyeongju Declaration 2025, a collective pledge by APEC leaders to strengthen collaboration on technology, sustainability, and equitable development across the Asia-Pacific region.
