A witness provided compelling testimony before Magistrate K.B. Sambou at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court in the ongoing criminal trial of Bubacarr Jallow, a Gunjur resident facing charges of breaking, entering, and stealing contrary to sections 258 and 226 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
Prosecution Witness 2 (PW2) Buba Darboe, also a resident of Gunjur, took the stand to narrate his account of the incident that led to the accused’s arrest.
Under oath, Mr. Darboe told the court that his mother, Kaddy Barrow, had tasked him with recording a video of a building under construction. During this assignment, he discovered that a window had been broken and noticed a pair of shoes beneath the damaged window. He also observed that the ceiling had been compromised, creating an entry point.
“After a short while, I heard noise coming from the ceiling and realized someone was inside,” Darboe testified. “I called for the person to come down. When he descended and attempted to flee, I was able to apprehend him with help from neighbors,” the witness explained.
The witness stated he then escorted the accused to Gunjur Police Station. When questioned by Prosecutor Cpl. E. Fofana, representing the Inspector General of Police, about additional damage to the property, Darboe revealed that electrical wires and pipes had also been severed.
However, during cross-examination, the accused posed two questions to the witness.
