Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, aka Bella Shmurda, has opened up about the emotional toll of celebrity, comparing the sense of being in the spotlight to “feeling like a box.”
In a recent vlog with Channel Tweety7 interview, the singer—who is well-known for songs like “Cash App” and “Vision 2020″—spoke candidly about the huge pressure that comes with being a superstar.
“I only enjoy the celebrity lifestyle just a little. When I wasn’t a celebrity, I used to be more free and hang out with friends. But now, it’s like I’m in a box,” he said.

Bella Shmurda also disclosed the frequently hidden cost of being his family’s main provider in addition to the pressure from the public. He freely discussed how his success has put him at the center of his family’s financial requirements, a position he both proudly and emotionally bears.
The obligation to always provide can make it hard to put his own well-being first, he said, describing the responsibility as a source of both energy and tiredness.
“I am the major breadwinner of my family, that comes with a lot of pressure. It’s hard. The money has got to keep coming if not, I’m in trouble.”
