Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara officially inaugurated the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas on Sunday, following their successful elections on Saturday.
The ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt, where 22 chairmen from the Action Peoples Party (APP) and one from the Action Alliance were sworn in.
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) announced the APP’s significant victory in 22 local government areas, with the Action Alliance securing one chairmanship position.

During his address, Governor Fubara congratulated the newly sworn-in chairmen on their achievements.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, who came to show his support.
As part of the state government’s requirements, each chairman was accompanied by a guest and is now tasked with promptly fulfilling their campaign promises and enhancing the welfare of their communities.
