Imam Fatty urges Gambians not to re-elect NAMS who voted to retain FGM Ban

In a passionate address, Imam Fatty has called on Gambian electorates to take a stand against National Assembly Members who voted against the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) bill. Speaking to a large congregation, Imam Fatty warned that re-electing these members would be a disservice to Islam and the community.

“Those who have voted against the FGM bill have shown where their allegiance lies,” Imam Fatty stated. “They have done their part, and now it is your role to vote them out and elect others who will uphold the values of Islam.”

The Imam’s message was clear and unequivocal, urging the community to exercise their voting power to bring about change. He emphasized the importance of electing representatives who align with Islamic principles and are committed to the well-being of the community.

Imam Fatty also offered a stark warning to those considering voting for the current National Assembly Members who opposed the bill. “I pray that anyone who votes for these hypocritical National Assembly Members perishes in Hell Fire (Jahanama) with them,” he declared.

The FGM bill has been a contentious issue in The Gambia, sparking debates and strong opinions on both sides. Imam Fatty’s statements reflect the deep divisions and the passionate beliefs held by many in the community.

As the election approaches, Imam Fatty’s call to action is expected to resonate with a significant portion of the electorate, potentially influencing the outcome and shaping the future legislative landscape of the country.
