A man accused of dismantling and stealing four NAWEC electric transformers worth D242,600 has been arraigned before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, according to police spokesperson ASP Modou Musa Sisawo.
The suspect, Muhamed Kuyateh, pleaded not guilty to charges of breaking into a building and stealing after allegedly stripping the transformers from a NAWEC facility in Jamisa, Brikama. He has been remanded at Mile Two pending his next court appearance on December 1st.
Police say tampering with national infrastructure is a grave offence that endangers essential services, and warn that anyone who targets public installations will face the full force of the law.
