Blue Ocean Properties Ltd has categorically denied claims made by the Director General of the Gambia Tourism Board (GTB) during his testimony before the Special Select Committee investigating the sale and disposal of assets identified by the Janneh Commission.
The Director General had asserted under oath that Blue Ocean purchased a property previously owned by former President Yahya Jammeh. In a swift response, the private company described the claim as entirely false and misleading.
In a detailed statement, Blue Ocean clarified that the property in question, located in Tanji, was allocated to them by the GTB within the Tourism Development Area and was never linked to Jammeh or any state asset. The company confirmed that it applied through proper procedures, paid the required development levy of GMD 4.8 million, and has since carried out all development activities in compliance with the law and under full regulatory oversight.
“Blue Ocean Properties has never had, and does not have, any interest in assets belonging to former President Jammeh or the state,” the statement emphasized. The company also challenged the Director General to provide evidence supporting his allegation.
The clarification comes amid heightened public scrutiny of the disposal of high-value assets, reinforcing the importance of transparency in government dealings and private sector accountability.
