Senegal’s financial crimes investigation is entering a decisive phase, with a series of substantive hearings scheduled for early December following a report by CENTIF, the country’s financial intelligence unit that analyses and flags suspicious financial activity.
The report raised concerns about financial flows amounting to roughly 5.5 billion CFA francs, around ten million US dollars. After the December 2nd hearing for singer Wally Seck, the investigating judge will question Ibrahima Bâ, son of former prime minister Amadou Bâ, on December 3rd. His chauffeur, Cheikh Tidiane Seck, is scheduled to appear the following day, while businessman Saliou Sylla will be heard on December 5th.
All three men have been held in pretrial detention since September 19th on allegations of criminal association and money laundering linked to the same case.
