Foreign Minister Sering Modou Njie Meets Qatari Counterpart in Doha Ahead of Global Development Summit

The Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, His Excellency Sering Modou Njie, held a meeting on November 3rd in Doha with His Excellency Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

According to a statement from The Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “discussions during the meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between The Gambia and the State of Qatar, and explored ways to further strengthen and expand collaboration across various fields of mutual interest.”

The ministry added that “both ministers expressed their readiness to deepen diplomatic relations and enhance cooperation to promote shared development goals and mutual prosperity.”

Minister Njie is currently in Doha to attend the Second World Summit for Social Development, scheduled from November 4th to 6th 2025. The summit brings together Heads of State and Government, ministers, senior United Nations officials, representatives of international and regional organisations, civil society, academia, and the private sector to review progress and renew global efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
