Banjul Mayor Lowe Represents Banjul at 2025 Asia Cities Summit

The Mayor of Banjul City Council (BCC), Rohey Malick Lowe, is currently representing Banjul at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors Forum in Dubai. The event gathers mayors from across Asia and beyond to engage in discussions on key development issues and strategies to address the needs of urban areas.

Mayor Lowe is expected to advocate for the rights and empowerment of women and girls in The Gambia during the summit. She emphasised the importance of the forum as a platform for networking with fellow mayors globally to advance development initiatives. “We spent the afternoon sharing experiences, challenges, and innovative solutions, a powerful reminder that whether in Asia, Africa, or the Pacific, our commitment to urban progress is a universal language,” she stated, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the summit.

The event, opened by Mohammed Al Basti, sets the stage for crucial dialogues on the future of cities, focusing on sustainable development and urban resilience. Mayor Lowe’s participation underscores Banjul’s commitment to addressing urban challenges and promoting gender equality in city development.
