Eleven Councillors Resign from UDP in Major Blow to Party

 

A total of eleven councillors from the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) have jointly resigned from the United Democratic Party (UDP) today, marking another major development in the party’s ongoing wave of departures.

In a collective statement, they said the decision was made “out of conscience and conviction,” stressing that while they are withdrawing from the UDP and all associated responsibilities, they remain committed to serving the residents of the Kanifing Municipality with dedication and integrity.

The councillors who signed the joint resignation include Hon. Famara Fofana, Councillor for Serrekunda West Constituency; Hon. Momodou Ma Swarreh, Nominated Councillor for Transport; Hon. Momodou Harona Camara, Councillor for Old Jeshwang/Kanifing Ward; Hon. Lamin Dibba, Councillor for Bakau/Cape Point; Hon. Karamo Ceesay, Councillor for Talinding South; Hon. Lamin Jammeh, Councillor for Manjai/Kotu Ward; and Hon. Joko Fatou Njie, Councillor for Bundung Six Junction.

Additionally, the following KMC councillors have also resigned: Hon. Kemo Bojang, Nominated Councillor for Youth; Hon. Matty Kanyi, Nominated Councillor for Women; Hon. M.C. Cham Jr., Nominated Councillor for Business; and Hon. Habib Ceesay, Councillor for New Jeshwang/Ebo Town.
