China to Launch Visa Services at Embassy in Banjul on October 7

During celebrations marking the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China in Banjul, His Excellency Liu Jin, the Chinese Ambassador to The Gambia, announced that the Chinese Embassy will begin processing visa applications for ordinary passport holders on October 7th, 2025.

The move will transfer consular services directly to the embassy, with the current Visa Application Center (VAC) in Banjul set to accept new applications only until September 30, after which it will handle passport collection for pending cases. No new applications will be taken between October 1 and 6, before the embassy assumes full responsibility — a shift the ambassador framed as evidence of China’s deepening ties with The Gambia.
