The President is to address the Nation on 19th June, 2025, there is need for him to enlighten the nation on what his cabinet found on record regarding oil exploration in The Gambia. He should inform the public which companies were given oil exploration licences and how far they have gone with their exploration.
It should be emphasised that countries award exploration licences that explore blocks in order to find traces of oil in the Gambia. If any traces are found they would have to find out whether the deposits are worth exploiting. Should there be sufficient quantity such companies would then have to sign a contract on the terms on the deposits found. As rumours spread regarding oil exploration, the onus is therefore on the President of the republic to explain the state of oil exploration so that Gambians will know the facts.
